Default Detroit Trying To Create a Trend?

So far this season, the Detroit Red Wings have chosen to run their game "enforcer-less". Is this their way of trying to create a new trend removing fighting from the game?

Personally, I think they are making a mistake. I think around the second half of the season with teams jockying for their playoff lives there will be a definitive need to control other teams runs at Detroits elite players.
